Expression of Interest: Grad/Junior AI Consultant
One of Australia’s most exciting early career AI roles.
Build your career at the forefront of responsible AI with a leading boutique advisory. Lumyra is scaling and we're building a pipeline of outstanding people we can bring into the team over the coming months.
We're actively looking for an exceptional early-career consultant to join us. The right person could start in the coming weeks, either full-time or initially at three days per week as we scale together.
Why Lumyra
Direct exposure to C-suite and board-level client work from day one; not buried in a 200-person team.
Work alongside an exceptional leadership team with deep industry, consulting and research credentials.
Genuine ownership of workstreams, not just formatting slides.
Contribute to shaping the AI governance landscape in Australia and across healthcare and financial services.
A research-led culture that values rigour, not just billable hours.
The Role
Grad/Junior AI Consultant — Strategy, Governance & Solutions
Only Sydney-based candidates will be considered.
Lumyra is a research-led AI advisory firm working at the intersection of strategy, governance, and technical capability. We're small by design — every person matters, every project demands rigour, and every client engagement reflects our commitment to responsible AI stewardship.
We're looking for a sharp, curious early-career consultant who can hit the ground running on execution — someone who builds things, thinks critically, and is eager to learn from experienced practitioners in a fast-paced consulting environment.
What the work looks like:
You'll work closely alongside our leaders across a range of client engagements. Day to day, that means:
Research & Analysis — Digging into complex topics, synthesising findings, and producing clear, well-structured outputs that feed into senior client deliverables.
Presentation & Communication — Preparing strategic decks, data visualisations, and written materials to a high standard. You don't need to present to the C-suite yet, but the work you produce will end up in front of them.
Building — Developing proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and functional AI applications using AI-assisted development tools and foundational coding skills.
Responsible Innovation — Contributing to solutions that are designed with governance, ethics, and positive human outcomes in mind; not just automations or what's technically possible, but what's right.
This is a hands-on role with real exposure to client work from day one. You'll be expected to learn quickly, take ownership of your workstreams, and grow into greater autonomy over time.
Who We’re Looking For
Requirements: Must-have criteria.
Sydney-based — You must be based in Sydney. This is non-negotiable.
Early career — Up to approximately three years of professional experience. This could include graduate roles, internships, or early-stage consulting positions.
Exceptional academic background — A distinguished academic record is important. Our work is research-led and demands rigour to match.
Demonstrated interest in AI — Whether through your studies, side projects, hackathons, or professional work, you should have a genuine and demonstrable interest in AI and its applications.
Australian Citizen — You must hold Australian Citizenship. Permanent Residency may be considered for exceptional candidates, subject to project clearance requirements.
What would make you stand out:
Big 4 or tier-one consulting experience, particularly in risk, strategy, or digital transformation.
Engineering, Computer Science, or quant degree from a leading university. Whether that's building AI applications, working with data pipelines, or developing technical models. We care more about the ability to build things than specific language or stack.
Experience in healthcare or financial services, in prior consulting, corporate or operations work.
Familiarity with AI risk and governance frameworks, or the curiosity to learn them fast.
We Value Diversity
We're committed to building a team that reflects different perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and candidates who bring non-traditional pathways into AI consulting.
