The Role

Senior AI Consultant — Strategy, Governance & Solutions

Only Sydney-based candidates will be considered.

Lumyra is a research-led AI advisory firm working at the intersection of strategy, governance, and technical capability. We're small by design — every person matters, every project demands rigour, and every client engagement reflects our commitment to responsible AI stewardship.

This isn't a typical consulting role. You'll need to be intellectually versatile — equally comfortable crafting board narratives as you are building functional prototypes. We need people who can think strategically, execute technically, and communicate with clarity.

What the work looks like:

  • Strategic advisory: Translate complex AI challenges into compelling board-ready deliverables. Develop investment cases, governance frameworks, and roadmaps that actually get implemented.

  • Client leadership: Lead C-suite workshops and multi-stakeholder engagements across government and enterprise. You'll need polish, presence, and the ability to build trust quickly.

  • Technical acceleration: Build working AI solutions — whether through AI-assisted development, no-code platforms, or code. We don't expect you to be a software engineer, but you must be able to move from concept to proof-of-concept independently.

  • Financial rigour: Understand business cases, ROI models, and cost-benefit analysis. Many of our projects involve investment decisions or regulatory economics.

  • Human-centred design: Ensure every solution is grounded in responsible governance and designed for positive human outcomes.

Who We’re Looking For

We maintain a deliberately small team of multi-disciplinary experts. To be considered, you must meet these criteria:

  • Strong academic foundation: A distinguished undergraduate record (first-class honours, high distinction average, or equivalent). Our work demands intellectual rigour and research literacy.

  • Proven consulting or transformation experience: 3–5 years in management consulting, digital transformation, AI strategy, or related fields. Healthcare or Financial Services experience highly valued.

  • Technical competence: Demonstrated ability to build or meaningfully contribute to AI solutions. We need evidence you can ship working products, not just strategy decks.

  • Commercial acumen: Comfort with financial models, business cases, and investment analysis. You should be able to hold your own in CFO-level conversations.

  • Client excellence: Track record of leading complex stakeholder engagements and building trusted advisor relationships.

  • Sydney-based: Must be in Sydney (we're fully remote, but client site attendance required).

  • Australian Citizen: Required. Permanent Residency considered for exceptional candidates, subject to clearance requirements.

  • Strong references: Professional references that speak to your capability, character, and collaborative approach.
